How to Become an Asteroid Hunter

To become an asteroid hunter you will need:

A telescope with a digital camera Computer with an internet connection Astronomy Software like Astrometrica Access to the IAU Minor Planet Center website to generate lists of known objects and their orbits Get Practice by observing currently known asteroids


Telescope should be able to detect 18th Magnitude stars with in a 4 minute exposure Proper scale of images is around 2 arcseconds per pixel 1 arcsecond =1"=1/60 of an arcminute = 1/3600 of a degree
